The Coach Series: A Hunting Heritage
I'm Bethany, Arizona born and Oklahoma raised. I'm a pursuer of the outdoors and with Father's Day approaching, I'm often reminded of the strong men that have guided and shaped me throughout the years. Sparking a love for the outdoors, bring my outdoor dreams to reality and encouraging me to continue our Hunting Heritage.
As far back as I can remember my grandfather shared his love for the outdoors with us. His passion came from a long line of hunters, fisherman and trappers. He didn't have any sons only three daughters and I was his first grandchild also a girl! That never mattered to him! It was all about passing on this hunting heritage and making sure this legacy continued! I learned many things as a child; but, I wish I could have had the chance as an adult.
Throughout my childhood my father was always encouraging of me learning about firearms. He was my first firearms instructor.
Growing up I didn't have many opportunities to go hunting. My dad was the only person that actually took me out. We never seen any deer; that was probably partially due to taking a child out in the woods. Especially, a little girl that had a million questions about the outdoors. I learned a lot about predator control with my dad on our property Badgers and Coyotes were off in a menace. My Father was just living life as a country dad unknowingly placing the building blocks to build the foundation of who I am as an outdoors woman today.
Moving into an adulthood I married my best friend who later became the father of our five children. My husband joined the military and completed many rifle ranges and pistol qualifications in the Marine Corps. He has patiently help me refine my Marksman skills. It's not very often that a homeschool mom of 5 gets a break. But he gives me every opportunity to get into the outdoors. He's been one of the most supportive people in my life and for that I'm thankful.
I couldn't just narrow it down to one influential man in my life because I have been blessed to have several. I'm thankful for all the opportunities that have been presented to me and the accomplishments I've had so far. I'm excited to continue learning new skills to put to use in my future outdoor endeavors.
