The Coach Series

The Coach Series

June. The month of father figures. Dads, uncles, older brothers, grandfathers, friends of the family. We all have them. We’ve all been influenced by one or another in some fashion throughout our lives. And while it’s not to say that our mothers haven’t given us guidance or advice to make it in the world, I think it is safe to say that strong independence, especially in outdoor adventures came from that male coaching we received along the way.

For me it started in the garage with some welding goggles and a torch while dad built the pipe buggy we enjoyed at the dunes in Southern California. I later learned to drive in that Pinto-powered buggy. Tomboy sums up my entire life. And while I didn’t pursue a tradeschool, I am quite skilled in several trades. It took a long time to find a man who owned, let alone knew how to use more tools than I did. And being self-sufficient never hurt anyone.

Join us this month as we feature the strong father-figure coaching we’ve received over the years that has helped shape us into the strong independent women we are today.
